Backroom Joe here again. I know it's been a while since we chatted, life has been crazy-busy as I'm sure you'll agree. It seems like just last week we were getting ready for Memorial Day and now . . . the advent of Old Man Winter is just around the corner. My work has been steadily busy over the past few months and with all the football games and such, there has been little time to be involved with AddicTreasures but last Saturday I had a chance to run the store for the day and get re-acquainted with life in the Valley Courtyard. |

 I've been pondering the name of the new store . . .Under The Chair,and it does have a certain "Je ne sais pas que" that keeps growing on me. The picture and logo my daughter came up with also seems to fit nicely, having that sense of antiquity yet modern elegance, you can almost hearEdith Piaf singing "Hymne À L'Amour". It wasn't until last night, however, that it all made perfect sense. We just unloaded the 2nd truck of furniture and before going home, I looked around the store and took it all in for a long moment and damned if it didn't become crystal clear! |

A customer came in the other day and, as usual, was pleasantly surprised to see the diversity and variety of merchandise atAddicTreasures. While shopping, she made comment to the quality and great prices. To us, this is not surprising, but something she said made me think. She told me that her initial impression of the beautiful 17th century building we occupy and it's classic look was that it may be one of those places with really high prices. We have 3 children, ages 15, 14 and soon to be 11. I am convinced they have been sneaking some of those beans from "Jack and the Beanstalk" or someone else is feeding them "Nuclear Wheaties". I was commenting to a friend the other day that it seems likejust yesterdaythat I was cradling my oldest girl in the nook of my arm, feeding her a bottle. Although it doesn't quite feel like it when you are in the midst of raising small children, believe me when you get on the back side of rearing the brood, you will understand what I mean by the old expression "my, my, my, how time flies". |

That's right, you can get just about anything at the Mall - and chances are that your friends or neighbors will have it too! Have you ever been to a party, dinner affair or social occassion wearing a piece of jewelry or a fashion accessory and see someone with the exact same thing. A little disappointing and somewhat of an uncomfortable moment, don't you think? Have you been furniture shopping lately and just can't seem to find that accent piece to finish off a room? Most of the chain stores all carry the same kinds of production furniture. |

I have been thinking about that questions the past few days. Let's take the name of our store, for example. When we started AddicTreasures, someone asked if this is a consignment shop. The answer to that is no, no and no! Although we do have a couple of items that were given to us from estates, those are the exception to the rule. 98% of what we have is new merchandise. The nameAddicTreasures is a play on words, and a wikipedia definition would go something like this: |

We had a very interesting week and our excitement can't be contained! First, Sunday we received our initial shipment of some very beautiful furniture pieces, including a French Country Sideboard, Buffet Table, Delys Sideboard, Wardrobe with Mirror Panes and a Mahogony 4 tier Bookcase with Leaded Glass Shelf Doors. This is the debut of what will be "AddicTreasures Furniture Gallery" an expansion of our existing store in the Valley Courtyard. We are expecting a container shipment in mid-April with all kinds of unique and unusual furniture that you won't find anywhere else in this area. |
