Backroom Joe here again. I know it's been a while since we chatted, life has been crazy-busy as I'm sure you'll agree. It seems like just last week we were getting ready for Memorial Day and now . . . the advent of Old Man Winter is just around the corner. My work has been steadily busy over the past few months and with all the football games and such, there has been little time to be involved with AddicTreasures but last Saturday I had a chance to run the store for the day and get re-acquainted with life in the Valley Courtyard. I felt like there was a lot more that I should be doing but then realized it was OK to have a slow day for a change - or at least that's what I fooled myself into thinking. I was quite amazed and very happy to see the steady traffic all day long! A few friends stopped by, lots of our regular customers and a number of new faces that kept saying "a friend told me about this place and I just had to stop in". I was happier yet to see that nobody left disappointed. It's a great feeling to know that word of AddicTreasures is spreading far and wide. During the day I had a chance to really look around to see how the store has transformed with the diversity of new and fantastic products. It also amazed me to realize there are now 25 Vendors! It's been just over a year since Rose opened for business with just a scant 6 Vendors and Viola! Like many of you, I've seen the marketing campaign on television about Small Business Saturday - a great event for lots of independent business owners to show all of us consumers why we should be supportive of our friends, neighbors and folks from our community that own businesses, all trying to provide products and services - at fair prices that fits our wallet. Some of you might say "I can get a better bargain at the mall or any of the larger chain stores" and you may be right. But you need to ask yourself a question - what am I really getting for my money? One of many or one of a kind? The other joy of shopping is being pampered with sincere customer service from someone that really appreciates your business and wants to make your visit a pleasurable experience, finding that special something - and right around the corner instead of that dreaded "mall crawl"! To coin Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz, "If I ever go looking for my heart's desire again, I won't look any further than my own backyard".
